We sat down and talked with grandmother and community organizer from the Bottineau Neighborhood Nancy Przymus about the GAF Shingles Factory. Nancy has been engaged in deep research and organizing exposing the toxic pollution that spreads from the GAF Shingles Factory into the air of North and Northeast Minneapolis. The GAF sits directly next to the proposed Upper Harbor Terminal site. We talk about the history of the factory, the health impacts on the community, the politics of the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency and Environmental Protection Act. Nancy also shares an inspiring vision of re-tooling the GAF and how the Upper Harbor Terminal Development presents an opportunity for a new type of industry on the Northside riverfront.
