Today we highlight the connection between capitalist real estate development and police violence. We start with an overview of the history of racialized state violence tied to the real estate economy and then we look at some recent examples including the murder of Breonna Taylor in Louisville, Ky and the new "Power Shift" of the Minneapolis Park Police targeting gentrifying South Minneapolis neighborhoods. We close with some reflections on the relationship between police abolition and socialist restructuring of our economy.
